A Blessingway was traditionally a Navajo Ritual created to spiritually support and empower the new mother for her journey of birthing and motherhood ahead. In recent times, this beautiful Ritual has been adapted as an alternative to traditional Baby Showers, where the focus tends to be more on the gifts and the baby, rather than on the Mother and her experience. What may seem to be a new “fad” is actually quite ancient in its practice. A Blessingway offers the friends and family of the new mother an opportunity to become spiritually connected to the baby, and the birthing process. Several activities are incorporated into this 2 hour harmonic ritual to foster attachment and bonding between mother/baby and guests. Octavia will guide the group through meditation, chant and specifically designed exercises to create a connection of heart and soul during this sacred ceremony.
